I’ve been writing freelance articles for years and one of my most recent posts for a client had to do with dragonflies and signs from Spirit.
It’s funny, because I was so excited about writing it – I love dragonflies and I love writing about Spirit. And even though I’m into the subject matter and/or just stoked about writing an article, I can get a little … sidetracked.
One thing that sidetracks me is when my friend calls me and asks if she can bring her daughter over to swim in the pool at in my complex. I love when she does that because if it wasn’t for her, I’d probably find myself busy with a thousand things, and not necessarily the things I love doing – like swimming.
Since I’m a water sign, being outside in water is a great way for me to chill out and get relaxed in my own element. Honestly, since I was a kid I always said I wished to be a mermaid, and I used to always say, “I could live in water.”
Anyway, last time she called I had planned to sit down and do this article, no matter what. Hours later I was floating on my back, soaking up the Sun and enjoying myself. We all have our weak spots – the pool is mine.
Two dragonflies continually flew by my head and one landed on my drink. “Get to work,” I could almost hear it say.
The next day it was done, probably quicker than any other article I’d ever written simply because I was so focused. I definitely saw that as a direct sign, especially since they didn’t seem interested in anyone but me.
Having that done felt like a weight off of my chest, because it was something I wanted to do but I allowed procrastination and “stuff” to get in the way.
So last night I was watching Tyler Henry, the cutest medium ever! on television and he was reading for Jamie Ziegler, the actress. Tyler brought up dragonflies, and Jamie said that when her son sees dragonflies he says that it’s his uncle who had passed over. Tyler confirmed that for her. It brought a smile to my face.
This morning, I woke up and the window in the living room was open and on the screen, right next to where my moon and crystal charm hang, there was a dragonfly. He literally stayed there all day, even through a rainstorm. He was a sign of all the things around me that are changing and transforming. If it was my mother, it would have been a robin, or another relative who comes through as a big monarch butterfly. Then it dawned on me – today is my father’s birthday.
I walked over to the dragonfly on my window and said “Happy Birthday Dad.”
Recently my mom’s birthday passed and her birthday number was coming up everywhere that day. And yesterday, I kept seeing 824 (today, my dad’s birthday). He wanted to be remembered too. He wanted me to know he was around.
And it would be so like him to tell me to “get to work.” He was a hard-working Virgo after all.
We can see signs in so many ways, we just have to be open to the message. In the article I mentioned earlier, I wrote about how the dragonfly can be a visit from someone dear or it can just be a symbol of changes happening around you. For me, it was a little of both – and I can’t wait for the next sign of Spirit.
